Strictly speaking, acne occurs when pores become clogged with dead skin cells, oil, and bacteria that normally live on our skin.  When the pores become plugged, bacteria can cause inflammation and infection. As pores burst, the infected material can lead to scarring. Most scarring is superficial, leaving brown and red marks, but some scars can be deep, leaving pitted scars that some refer to as icepick acne scars. If the body produces excess collagen during the healing, the scars can be thick (hypertrophic) and lead to cystic acne.

From a detailed skin questionnaire to VISIA® skin analysis, together we can find a solution to your acne concerns. Most of the time, solutions involve a combination of medical-grade skincare products as well as chemical peels or lasers. In order to have the best results from a peel or a laser, you should not have active acne at the time of treatment.
