RF Microneedling

Offered at our convenient location

in Sonoma County, CA

Microneedling and radiofrequency (RF) is a resurfacing treatment that improves skin texture by administering collagen-stimulating energy with tiny needles. The well-tolerated anti-aging treatment is a popular solution for many common skin issues, including reducing fine lines and wrinkles and improving the side effects of sun exposure. If your treatment includes platelet-rich plasma (PRP), it will also help your skin heal and foster new cell growth. Nonsurgical cosmetic treatments are popular anti-aging solutions for long-term results.

Allegro MedSpa of Santa Rosa offers microneedling with state-of-the-art Scarlet SRF, Agnes RF, and Legend Pro, which can diminish the appearance of scars, dark spots, large pores, and other skin conditions. Our team can improve the texture of your skin without the risk of further damage. Contact our office or call (707) 537-2123 to schedule a consultation at our office.

About Microneedling and Radiofrequency

If you’re dealing with mild to moderate acne spots, lines, or sun damage, surgical procedures aren’t necessary to achieve significant improvements. Microneedling can be very useful for individuals looking to restore their youthful appearance and feel better about their skin. It can make your skin look younger, smoother, firmer, and luminous because it stimulates collagen production. Collagen is a vital molecule that forms a scaffold that supports the skin’s structure, helping it maintain its shape and resilience. In one study, patients who underwent microneedling treatment experienced an average increase of 400% in collagen and elastin levels after six months. (1) The heat produced by the radiofrequency energy stimulates collagen, a process called neocollagenesis.

Microneedling and RadioFrequency Allegro MedSpa of Santa Rosa

Agnes RF

Agnes RF is a microneedling device developed by dermatologists. It is often used for acne treatment, specifically targeting stubborn cystic acne by delivering RF energy directly into the sebaceous glands to reduce oil production and inflammation. It includes square-form wave technology for the targeted application of radiofrequency. The Agnes RF microblade pins are different lengths to help our team meet your aesthetic needs. Depending on your procedure, we will use shorter needles to target topical issues, and longer needles to target deeper layers of the skin if needed.

Scarlet SRF

Scarlet SRF is a microneedling device designed for speed and efficiency. The device causes electrocoagulation, meaning it can destroy skin abnormalities and control bleeding. Unlike some other RF treatments that use bulk heating, Scarlet RF employs micro-needle electrodes to deliver RF energy directly into the deeper layers of the skin, allowing for precise and controlled treatment.

LegendPro

LegendPro, an RF microneedling treatment known for its ultrathin electrodes, can reduce mild to moderate wrinkles on the face and neck. Developed by Lumenis, a leading medical device company, Legend Pro combines multiple technologies, including radiofrequency (RF) energy, microneedling, and pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMF), to deliver comprehensive skin treatments. If wrinkle reduction is your main cosmetic goal, we may recommend LegendPro instead of other microneedling devices.

Benefits

A microneedling and RF treatment will help you achieve smoother, younger-looking skin. After treatment, you will continue to see improvement for up to six months due to the increased production of collagen in your skin. (1) After a treatment, you will experience the following benefits:

  • Improved skin texture
  • Clearer skin
  • Reduced appearance of acne spots
  • Improved appearance of wrinkles
  • A younger appearance
  • A youthful glow

Candidates

The ideal candidate for microneedling is any individual looking to alter the appearance or texture of the surface of their face in a minimally invasive way. Dry skin, uneven skin tone, coarse texture, age spots, loose skin, wrinkles, acne, and scarring are all skin conditions that could benefit from microneedling. This procedure can also be utilized to combat the effects of sun damage that may have caused the skin to have a rough texture or hyperpigmentation.

Preparation

To prepare for your treatment, you will need to stop drinking alcohol 24 hours before you arrive at the office. You will also need to avoid anti-inflammatory medications to reduce your chance of experiencing side effects such as bruising. If you use products that contain salicylic acid, we will likely ask you to stop using them because the acid can change the outcome of your treatment.

Procedure

We will use topical numbing cream before administering the treatment for your comfort. During a microneedling and radiofrequency procedure, our team uses tiny needles to penetrate the skin on your face, neck, and chest to stimulate collagen production and promote skin repair. The depth of needle penetration and the level of RF energy can be adjusted based on your skin concerns and treatment goals. This allows for precise targeting of specific areas and customization of the treatment to your individual needs.

Microneedling and RadioFrequency Recovery

After your RF microneedling treatment, you may experience some temporary side effects such as swelling and redness. We recommend that you do not wear makeup, use abrasive skin cleansers or submerge yourself in pools for around 72 hours after the session. Activities like this could expose your skin to harsh chemicals and bacteria, which could lead to adverse reactions. You also need to avoid sun exposure and use protective measures when going outside such as SPF. Caring for your skin properly will prolong the anti-aging effects of the treatment.

Results

Final results are usually seen after several weeks as the skin works to repair and heal itself. The treatment stimulates collagen production, a natural healing process in the body that promotes the generation of new skin cells and repairs your skin from sun damage and aging. Over the next 3-6 months, you will continue to see an improvement in the texture of your skin because this treatment triggers an efficient healing process with lasting results.

Corresponding Procedures

Peptides

A peptide treatment is an amino-acid-rich skin regeneration treatment that increases skin elasticity, reduces bacteria, and promotes cellular turnover. If you have acne scars, this is the ideal treatment for helping your skin heal. Peptides can help you achieve clearer skin. Our team can use peptides in combination with microneedling for deep skin penetration and enhance the benefits of your treatment.

Acne and Acne Scarring

At our office, we offer several treatments for acne scarring that reduce the appearance of scars and increase cell turnover. If you are struggling with discoloration due to acne breakouts or oil glands that are causing repeat breakouts, our acne treatments can restore the appearance and texture of your skin. Although microneedling can reduce signs of acne scars, our team can take your treatment a step further by incorporating other procedures such as laser treatments and fillers to restore your appearance. For a complete overview of the acne treatments we offer, see our blog.

Injectables

If you are looking for a solution to hollow areas of the skin, injectables can add volume to the face, lips, and chin. Volume loss is a common side effect of aging. Our injectables will also reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, nasolabial folds, and crow’s feet if you are struggling with these on a daily basis.

Microneedling & RadioFrequency

Frequently Asked Questions

Radiofrequency microneedling devices use specially insulated needles that deliver high-intensity radio frequency (RF) energy into the dermis after the needles have broken through the skin. The radio frequency energy encourages collagen growth and skin tightening.

The procedure is very well tolerated. There can be some redness and puffiness for about 1-2 days. We recommend taking good care of your skin during and after your treatment process. Please wear an SPF, moisturize your skin, and avoid direct sunlight while your skin is recovering to prevent sun damage or dryness.

Results begin to show within 3-4 weeks, but the improvements to your skin will not stop there. You will continue to see improvements for the next 6 months.

The number of treatments you need will depend on the severity of your skin condition and the results you would like to achieve. Although optimal results are usually seen in three to five treatments, our team is here to support you with more if you need them. We can also recommend stronger alternative procedures for deeper wrinkles or lines that cannot be resolved without surgical intervention.
