Santa Rosa CA is a charming town situated in the North Bay region of Sonoma County. It is a perfect city for those who like to spend their days exploring the outdoors. Santa Rosa’s population has grown steadily over the years. Between 1950 and 1970, the city grew by over two-thirds. Today, the city is home to 119,158 people, including 4.079 African-Americans and 2.808 Native Americans.
One of the main attractions of the city is the historic downtown. This area features colorful storefronts and quaint art galleries. Another notable landmark in the city is Luther Burbank’s Home and Gardens. The estate was once the residence of the famed horticulturist, who introduced plums, prunes, and other fruits and vegetables into the food industry. A Registered State Historic Landmark, the house is open daily from 8 am to dusk.
Spring Lake Regional Park is another of the area’s top attractions. With over 320 acres of land and a lagoon, this park is an ideal spot to hike, bike, or relax. Visitors can also catch a performance at the Paradise Ridge Winery Estate Amphitheater. Other parks include Howarth Park, which is a 152-acre lake that is surrounded by hiking and walking trails.
Santa Rosa is also home to the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts, which is a nonprofit, cultural arts center that hosts a variety of events. Among its numerous exhibits, you can find an interactive children’s museum. Featuring hands-on displays and an education room, the Children’s Museum of Sonoma County encourages kids to explore the arts and sciences.
If you are planning a trip to Santa Rosa, you might want to check out some of its renowned breweries. Known as a “beer city,” the town boasts 12 local breweries. Breweries such as Russian River Brewing Company are known for their tours and unique sour beers. While you are in the area, don’t forget to visit the Shady Oak Barrel House for innovative drinks.
