What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are gel-like substances that are injected below the skin to add volume, give contour, and soften wrinkles. They can help to eliminate or soften the visible signs of aging and enhance or refine your existing features. Most of the dermal fillers we use are made of hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance in our skin that dissolves over the course of several months to two years after injection. Dermal fillers have been used safely for over 15 years and millions of treatments have been safely done.

Which areas can be treated with filler?
Dermal fillers are very versatile and can be used in the lips, cheeks, temples, jawline, nasolabial folds, as well as the perioral area around the mouth. Our expert injectors will work with you to understand your goals for your appearance, as dermal filler treatment should be carefully customized to your anatomy. From a subtle increase in lip volume to a full “liquid facelift,” we will be careful to cater your treatment to your goals.
What happens during dermal filler treatment?
All our dermal filler injections take place inside the treatment room at Allegro MedSpa of Santa Rosa. Before treatment, you will have the option to have a numbing cream applied for increased comfort. The treatment is injected below your skin through a very fine needle, then gently massaged so it fills the needed areas. Multiple injections will be needed, followed by a cold, gentle compress to decrease swelling. Each dermal filler formula—whether it’s Restylane, Juvéderm, or another formula—is administered with a similar technique; still, we will select the ideal formula and injection areas to target your specific needs and goals.
What to Expect
Here’s what to expect when receiving dermal fillers in Northern California.
After your treatment
When we complete your procedure, you can return to your day. Some patients may choose to take “social downtime” if swelling, redness, or bruising occur; your timeframe will depend on what is being treated, so talk to your injector about what to expect.
The injection sites will appear slightly red and swollen, but this often goes away after several hours. Bruising can appear, but this can usually be concealed with makeup. We recommend that you avoid strenuous activities, like exercise, for 1–2 days, and sleep upright for at least the first night.
Most patients will experience some improvements immediately after their filler injections, but it often takes 1–2 weeks before the results are final.
Dermal filler injection treatments generally last about a year, with some variation depending on the exact product used. During your appointment, we will recommend a time frame for returning for follow-up treatments.
How long do dermal fillers last?
Depending on the type of filler used and the area that is treated, dermal fillers can last anywhere from 9 months to 24 months.
Are dermal fillers safe?
Like with any medical procedure, there are risks that we will review with you, but dermal fillers are very safe and our practitioners are trained in the latest techniques. Side effects are generally mild, restricted to the area of injection, and will usually resolve within two weeks. More serious complications are extremely rare in the hands of a well-trained, experienced injector aware of safe techniques and best practices.
How much do fillers cost?
The cost of dermal filler in Santa Rosa depends on the type of filler chosen and the number of syringes used. Our practitioners will review your goals and present the best plan of action for your specific anatomy and concerns.
Our dermal filler offerings
We will help you choose the dermal filler formula that meets your goals from our range of offerings:
The Revance RHA Collection
We were one of the first practices in the USA to introduce Revance’s RHA® dermal filler collection. The RHA collection is the latest advancement in hyaluronic acid (HA) filler science. Designed to adapt to facial movement, the RHA collection is resilient and dynamic by design. For this reason, Revance’s RHA fillers are the first and only FDA-approved dermal fillers for the correction of dynamic wrinkles, or those wrinkles that appear when forming facial expressions (rather than static wrinkles, which are etched into the skin). They also have a longer-lasting effect than most other fillers. We can use the RHA filler collection in fine, moderate, and deep wrinkles, including in the nasolabial folds. The maker of RHA, Revance (Teoxane), recently introduced a new neuromodulator called Daxxify™ (Daxibotulinumtoxin A).
