What is the lip filler procedure like?
Lip injections commonly take about 15-30 minutes, although this depends on which areas are being corrected. Your face will be cleaned, and the injection sites will be carefully selected. Dermal fillers contain a local anesthetic to reduce discomfort during the process and in the hours following your procedure. Using ultra-fine needles or a cannula, we will carefully inject the HA filler into strategic areas of your lips. You should be careful to not touch your face after your treatment to avoid massaging the filler into other areas and exposing the injection sites to bacteria, debris, and oils. Many patients can resume their everyday activities right away. However, some common side effects may include slight swelling or bruising at the injection site. You can apply ice packs to your lips to relieve tenderness and reduce swelling. Avoid excessive heat exposure, such as saunas or vigorous exercise, for at least 24 hours post-procedure.
Patients typically experience a noticeable improvement immediately after their procedure, but mild, temporary swelling or bruising may occur. Most patients will experience some numbness on their lips and around their mouth due to the local anesthetic, but this will fade within a day if not within a few hours.
