Daxxify last longer than other neurotoxins, so you won’t need to come in as often

Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin®, Jeuveau®, and now Daxxify are all FDA-approved to reduce dynamic, expression-based wrinkles in the upper face. They all work about the same: the main ingredient, botulinum toxin type A, temporarily blocks nerve signals to the muscle, effectively relaxing its movement to a degree. This softens the wrinkles in the skin that were formed by that muscle’s contraction.

However, one of the benefits of Daxxify (daxibotulinumtoxinA) is that it lasts longer than other neurotoxins, meaning that you won’t need to come into the medical spa as often for treatment. Clinical trials showed that Daxi can last up to six months for over half of patients, with some patients still seeing results at 9 months. (Botox Cosmetic, Dysport, Xeomin, and Jeuveau all last 3-4 months on average). A longer-lasting treatment can be convenient for those with busy schedules, as it means less time on the road and in our office—and more time for living your life, looking radiant!

Daxi uses a proprietary peptide to stabilize its formula

While most other neurotoxins are formulated with proteins to stabilize the active ingredient, Revance Therapeutics formulated Daxi with proprietary Peptide Exchange Technology™ (PXT). You may be familiar with peptides as the age-fighting ingredients in many topical skincare products; in fact, Daxxify was developed accidentally when the manufacturer was looking for a way to deliver Botox-level results with a topical skin care product. Instead, they created Daxxify, the first and only injectable neuromodulator stabilized with a peptide.

When injected, this technology can extend its effect on treated muscles without the use of human serum albumin or any animal-based proteins. Plus, Daxi takes effect quickly, with results beginning to show at an average of 2-3 days after injections. And for injectors, it’s more convenient, as it does not need to be refrigerated to preserve its efficacy.

You can rely on the efficacy of Daxxify: it has been shown to last for six months or longer in half of its users, and usually takes effect in just 2-3 days.

You are unlikely to see “Botox resistance” with a new formula

Switching Botox-type products may help if you’re experiencing “Botox resistance,” which means that your injectable results (even with the same product, same areas, and same dosages) aren’t what they used to be. This is likely caused by your body’s response to the accessory proteins in the neuromodulator formula you use, essentially forming antibodies to “fight” the product. Switching to a different formula, like Daxxify, is the solution for this frustrating phenomenon. If you are looking for an alternative, the FDA has fully approved Daxxify as an anti-wrinkle drug and Botox alternative. And Daxxify is unlikely to be ineffective due to Botox resistance or to cause an allergic reaction.

Without human or animal byproducts, Daxxify is a vegan-friendly alternative to other neurotoxins

Daxxify is considered by many to be a more “clean” injectable because it does not contain any human or animal by-products; it uses a novel peptide as a stabilizer, instead. This offers benefits if you follow a vegan lifestyle or are looking for plant-based alternatives to traditional Botox-type injectable treatments. You may choose a vegan-friendly injectable if you avoid animal products for ethical or dietary reasons. In addition, this injectable may be more suitable for those with sensitivities or allergies to certain animal-derived ingredients.

When it comes to expression-based facial wrinkles, if you’re ready for a more long-lasting solution with fewer trips to the medspa, Daxxify may be just what you’re looking for.

You have had other Botox-type injectables before, and are ready for a change

There is no harm in trying Daxxify if you are curious to experiment with a new neuromodulator! We welcome our patients who are accustomed to injectable botulinum toxin treatment to try this newer, longer-lasting formula if they so choose. And in the hands of an experienced injector, you will find that Daxi, like other neuromodulators, reduces fine lines and wrinkles effectively while preserving your natural facial expressions. Remember: To avoid a “frozen” or unnatural appearance, your choice of injector is even more important than your choice of product!
