How to Make Your Summer Body Dreams Come True with Nonsurgical Body Contouring

Treatments / January 31, 2022

Nonsurgical body contouring in Santa Rosa helps patients across Northern California reach their summer body goals without scary crash diets, extensive downtime, or the need for incisions. At Allegro Medspa of Santa Rosa, California’s premier med spa, we offer multiple, advanced non-invasive body sculpting treatment options.

Summer bodies are made in the winter, but nearly all of us have areas of stubborn fat that won’t budge regardless of healthy diets or exercise. That’s where nonsurgical body contouring comes in! Gone are the days of needing invasive surgery to permanently eliminate fat cells and reveal leaner, smoother contours.

Avoid the risks of a crash diet

It’s tempting to turn toward extreme calorie deficits as we look toward our summer, but those crash diets are never a good idea. Research shows rapid weight loss deprives your body of essential nutrients and can slow down your metabolism. That makes it harder to keep the pounds off, causing weight to yo-yo.

There can be serious long-term effects from the lack of balanced nutrition that comes with a crash diet. The up and down of one’s weight can contribute to insulin resistance and potentially Type II diabetes.

The worst part of all of this? You are unlikely to even trim the fat you’re trying so hard to get rid of! Most weight loss from a crash diet is a loss of muscle and water weight. If you’re living a balanced lifestyle and still dealing with stubborn areas of fat, cutting calories drastically is not the answer. For those who are at or close to their ideal weight, committing to nonsurgical body contouring targets those hard-to-lose areas and eliminates fat cells for good.

Nonsurgical body contouring treatments

Before undergoing any treatment (surgical or nonsurgical), we will invite you to come in for a consultation with one of our body contouring experts. Be prepared to discuss your problem areas and desired results, as this information helps determine the best approach to achieving your best summer body. Generally, we can recommend from the following options:

Emsculpt Neo: Build muscle, burn fat

This is the first body sculpting procedure that uses radiofrequency for fat reduction, and high intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM®) to tone and strengthen muscles during one session. Combining both muscle building and fat reduction in one treatment makes Emsculpt NEO the most advanced body contouring treatment available in Santa Rosa.

Our aesthetic experts use the Emsculpt Neo to treat the abdomen, buttocks, thighs, arms, and calves to reveal tighter muscles and slimmer contours!

What to expect from Emsculpt Neo

Procedure time for Emsculpt Neo can be as little as 30 minutes of actual treatment, but the total time you spend in the office varies based on your individual needs and how many areas you would like to target. You can entirely complete most sessions  within one to two hours. You can schedule this nonsurgical body contouring treatment during your lunch hour and resume your normal activities immediately. Most patients see the best results after a series of four or so treatments, each scheduled a week or two apart.

Results vary slightly from patient to patient, but we often see the best results three months following the final treatment in your Emsculpt Neo series.

How does Emsculpt Neo work?

The HIFEM® energy of Emsculpt Neo contracts muscle fibers at intensities you cannot achieve during a workout. The extreme stress force applied to the muscle forces it to adapt by increasing the number and growth factor of muscle fibers and cells. This means you get stronger, more defined muscles and a summer body you’ll want to show off.

CoolSculpting for hot results

CoolSculpting in Northern California is a revolutionary, permanent fat-diminishing treatment designed to sculpt and mold your body by freezing away tough fat cells. The technique uses regulated cooling to freeze fat cells, which are then naturally expelled from your body, leaving you with a slimmer silhouette.

What to expect from CoolSculpting

First we apply a gel pad and the CoolSculpting handpiece to the predetermined area to begin controlled cooling. The cooling power delivered by the applicator attacks and paralyzes the fat cells once it can safely suction the targeted area into the applicator. It feels cold on your skin, but should not be uncomfortable.

Your body breaks down the frozen fat cells and disposes of them naturally. Your body will NOT create new fat cells to replace the dead ones, but the remaining fat cells can get larger if you gain weight.

Since CoolSculpting treatments are noninvasive, patients return to normal activities following treatment. In as little as three weeks, you start to notice your results. The most dramatic and obvious results are seen one to three months after your treatment.

For some patients, one treatment is enough for ideal results, but other patients may need more treatment sessions depending on the amount of fat they want addressed. The number of treatments is dependent on your aesthetic goals and if there are thicker layers of fat in target sections.

Are there side effects from CoolSculpting?

Side effects of CoolSculpting usually include bruising, swelling, stinging, redness, and discomfort of the treated site. These side effects are temporary and should subside in the days following your procedure.

QWO, a breakthrough cellulite treatment

Unlike our other options for body sculpting in Santa Rosa, QWO (collagenase clostridium histolyticum-aaes) is an injectable treatment for cellulite in adult women. It is a prescription medicine and FDA-approved to treat moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks.

Our Northern California med spa was one of the first in the nation to be able to offer QWO injections for cellulite. With help from our trained injection technicians, women across the region are wearing cheeky swimsuits—with no concern about cellulite—all summer long!

What causes cellulite?

Fibrous connective cords act as tethers between skin and the muscle underneath. If these fibrous cords break, stretch, or pull, it causes fat cells to accumulate and push against the skin, forming cellulite. Cellulite can affect anyone, but women are more likely to have it. It isn’t clear why some people develop cellulite while others don’t, though evidence suggests genetics play a role. Cellulite is not caused by toxins or by being overweight, though it can be more apparent in people who are overweight.

Cellulite is not harmful in any way to your health, but the appearance of it bothers many people who have it. That’s why so many companies try to cash in on that insecurity by offering products marketed to improve cellulite, regardless of how accurate those statements are.

What to expect from QWO

We inject QWO into the subcutaneous fat of each buttock (treatment areas). You may receive up to 12 injections per treatment area in each appointment. We administer injections of QWO 21 days apart for a total of three separate treatments, each of which should take about 15 minutes.

The most common side effects of QWO include bruising, pain, areas of hardness, itching, redness, discoloration, swelling, and warmth in the treatment area. Visible results are usually noticed within 10 weeks.

How does QWO work?

The enzymes that make up QWO are thought to target structural causes of cellulite beneath the skin. Those structural causes are: fibrous bands beneath the skin becoming thicker, skin becoming thinner, and fat cells becoming larger. Those three things are a recipe for dimples.

QWO releases the thickened fibrous bands, redistributes fat cells, and stimulates collagen growth. The additional collagen production means your summer body will keep improving over time!

Body sculpting vs. body contouring

The terms body sculpting and body contouring are often used to describe the same types of treatments, whether it’s nonsurgical options or traditional surgical approaches (like liposuction). We have had patients ask what the difference is between body sculpting v. body contouring, and really, there is none! Sculpting and contouring refer to the same thing when we’re discussing methods of trimming excess fat or building muscle.
