RF Microneedling vs. Microneedling

How Does RF Microneedling Compare to Traditional Microneedling?

Uncategorized / May 4, 2021

At Allegro MedSpa, we have found that traditional microneedling simply does not compare to RF microneedling. Radiofrequency microneedling, most often referred to as RF microneedling, is a more recent advancement in microneedling technology. We use RF microneedling in Northern California to treat a variety of skin issues. But if you’re wondering about RF microneedling vs. microneedling, keep reading.

What is microneedling?

Traditional microneedling uses a special tool fitted with tiny needles to create teeny tiny, minute punctures that you will not even notice on the surface of the skin on the face, neck, and chest.

These controlled micro-damage areas prompt skin to stimulate the healing processes. Those healing processes result in the production of elastin and collagen—vital components of firm, smooth skin.

RF microneedling uses the exact same basis as traditional microneedling, but includes the use of radiofrequency energy to generate heat and target deeper layers of the skin.

Is RF microneedling better than microneedling?

Yes, RF microneedling is more effective than traditional microneedling. The heat produced by the radiofrequency energy stimulates the production of collagen and elastin far more effectively than microneedling alone. RF microneedling is also scientifically proven as safe and effective.

RF energy stimulates deeper skin tissues. This results in a more efficacious tightening of the skin in addition to improvements in treatment of acne, texture, fine lines, and more.

RF microneedling targets deeper layers of skin

The skin is separated into 3 basic layers: epidermis, dermis, and subcutaneous tissue

The outermost layer, the epidermis, is what traditional microneedling can affect. RF microneedling delivers radiofrequency energy deep into the dermis layer for more effective collagen production.

RF microneedling is customizable

The aesthetic experts at Allegro MedSpa customize RF microneedling treatments for each patient. We can adjust the puncture depth and level of RF energy used based on your unique skin needs and goals.
